The artworks convey a message to raise awareness about contemporary human intervention in the natural balance, specifically addressing the precarious situation of bees and their inclusion on the list of endangered species.
It is a series with activist-ecologist tendencies, taking on a sci-fi appearance to encapsulate a sensitive topic in a rugged exterior.
This is done precisely to present the delicate situation in which bees are replaced by drones, an already patented invention.
The pursuit of uniqueness can be a professional flaw for an artist—this fact guided me in choosing contrasting natural materials, both fragile and yet so similar in their demanding processing (marble and beeswax combs).
The series of artworks is filtered through a romantic and slightly utopian lens, portraying bees protected by carrier ships on the verge of taking off to other planets in an imaginative interstellar journey.
