Carmen I. Olteanu is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative practice lives at the intersection of tradition and contemporary expression. She works fluidly across painting, sculpture, and ceramics—three mediums she sees not as separate, but as harmonious languages telling the same story.

Through organic forms, sculpted gestures, and the emotional vibration of color, Carmen explores the profound relationship between human beings, space, and feeling.

Born in the picturesque mountain town of Petroșani in 1977, Carmen’s early works were deeply inspired by nature, flowers, and the beauty of her native Jiului Valley—an environment that continues to resonate in her artistic voice. Her artistic journey began with early exhibitions in Lupeni, guided by local artist Iosif Tellman, and continued during her academic years through collaborations and exhibitions in Bucharest.

After graduating from the University of Petroșani in 1999, she settled in Timișoara, where her passion for decorative painting flourished under the mentorship of Luciano Rottini, with whom she collaborated for two decades. During this time, she pursued formal studies in painting and later discovered the transformative world of ceramics under the guidance of Conf. univ. dr. Gloria Grati. Her sculptural studies with renowned sculptor Remus Irimescu further enriched her artistic vision.

Carmen holds degrees and certifications from the School of Arts in Timișoara (Painting and Sculpture), as well as a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Arts and Design at the West University of Timișoara. Her work is defined by a deep connection to materiality—where earth, pigment, and volume converge into soulful creations. In her hands, matter becomes spirit, and art becomes a bridge between the visible and the felt.
