Abstract expressionism remains relevant today because it resonates with the drama of our times and the many anxieties we face, from ongoing threats to ecological disasters and climate disturbances.
The current form of expressionism carries dramatic undertones, yet it also evokes a vital reactivity, filled with childhood memories and “Tachist” variations, spectacular through their pure gestural expression.

I believe in painting that is driven by authentic emotion, lived with the passion of a discreet lyricism—erupting suddenly with inventiveness, then gradually calming as meaning is discovered in a slow release of energy.
My painting's “props” are childhood, physical elements of memory, and concrete objects charged with the tensions of reality. These grant a narrative flow to my works, abruptly turning the viewer into a character within the created image.
Elements of language—signs, circles, squares, rectangles—carry symbolic weight, whether intuited or remembered, and often appear obsessively in my work. Without false modesty, I find balance in existential anonymity and believe I belong among the visual artists of our time.

"În viziunea mea, Expresionismul abstract se dovedeşte viabil deoarece este un corespondent al dramatismului zilelor noastre, al spaimelor de tot felul, mergând de la ameninţările permanente, la dezastrele ecologice şi perturbările climatice.
Tipul de expresionism actual implică nuanţe dramatice, dar totodată îmi insuflă reactivităţi vitaliste cu amintiri din copilărie, cu variante “taşiste“, spectaculoase prin gestualismul propriuzis.
“Artistul preponderent adept al marilor suprafeţe îşi etalează neliniştea interioară, zbuciumul său, visarea, prin cele două direcţii ale preocupărilor sale, una cumulativă... cu implicaţii suprarealist abstracte şi o alta selectivă cu accent pe detaliu, pe gestul focalizat şi contrastul accentuat, potenţat prin accente cromatice esenţializate. “ (Ciprian Radovan, în Prefaţa textului expoziţiei personale Sintropia, 2019).
Cred în pictura cu stare autentică, trăită cu patima unui lirism discret, dar declanşat furtunos şi inventiv, apoi totul liniştindu-se de la sine, odată cu găsirea unor sensuri spre o epuizare înceată. “Recuzita“ picturii mele este copilăria, elementele fizice ale memoriei, dar şi unele lucruri concrete care îşi manifestă tensiunile unei realităţi ce dă timp narativ lucărilor care mă introduc brusc din privitor în personajul din imaginile create.
Elementele de limbaj, semne, cerc, pătrat, dreptunghi, specifice simbolului adiacent, intuit sau memorat, de multe ori presuspus spre a fi acceptat de interlocutor, revin obsesiv în picturilr mele. Fără a fi modest, îmi găsesc un echilibru în anonimatul existenţial şi cred că fac parte dintre artiştii vizuali ai timpului nostru." - Viorel Cosor
