About the Artist:

Kimon Loghi, born in 1871 in Serres, Macedonia (then part of the Ottoman Empire) and passing away in 1952 in Bucharest, Romania, was a Romanian painter of Aromanian descent.

From 1890 to 1894, he pursued his painting studies at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest under the tutelage of Theodor Aman and George Demetrescu Mirea. Theodor Aman advised him to sign his works as Kimon instead of Chimon to avoid misinterpretation abroad, where the latter might have been pronounced as Simon due to French conventions.

In 1894, Loghi gained admission to the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. There, he spent a year studying under the Greek painter Nikolaos Gyzis and, upon the recommendation of his friend Frederic Storck, continued his studies with Franz von Stuck from 1895 to 1898.

Kimon Loghi had a distinctive and captivating approach in the world of contemporary art. Through his works, Loghi manages to blend tradition with modernity, creating visual compositions that challenge and inspire. With a rich palette of colors and impeccable technique, he brings to life on canvas or in other mediums images that captivate the viewer and take them on a journey through imagination and emotion. His works reflect a passion for detail and emotional depth, echoing his inner universe and exploring themes that resonate with the human experience. Kimono Loghi is a prominent figure in the contemporary art landscape, and his work continues to fascinate and delight audiences worldwide.
